269832 2004-09-06 10:53:00 On my old computer I had ICQ and want to install it again. However, Microsoft have decided I do not need Java program in default in XP, and it is not there automatically. (In searching the net I have read of the Sun/MS court cases etc, but I seem to have come across bits of threads that say it is possible to download JVM or something akin to that somehow, though I myself found the JVM site link from ICQ was a dead end. Any advice, folks? Carol T (1211)
269833 2004-09-06 10:57:00 Download Java from Sun,its the original and the real one.

MS's version was not only an attempt to steal from Sun but it was also a security issue.

Its been a long time since i used ICQ,i didnt realise it was relient on Java?

269836 2004-09-06 11:14:00 Yes, that is what has happened to me..got the latest, with less! Thanks tweak'e for that site. I did do lots of searching but got lost in all the bits of threads that weren't quite what I needed. Carol T (1211)
