2004-09-06 14:43:00 | It's deffinately to do with the font size Laura as at first viewing that site I had problems in Netscape 7.1 and Fedora1 but reduced font settings I had at 14 to 12 and all was well. | mikebartnz (21) | |
2004-09-06 15:04:00 | Thanks, Mike So obviously I haven't managed to decrease my font size properly in Firefox (Newbie not managing the View info successfully, it seems. Will have to persevere) However, your input about Netscape & Fedora results is also valuable in the context of Murray P's comments about partially-sighted people. Much as I approve of the PSIS co-operative banking system (which I've used happily for many years) and the prompt reply from its webmaster, I guess any website which doesn't function perfectly on all text sizes does need more work in providing options to Internet Explorer. I guess a message to that effect (politely-worded, of course) is now in order.

2004-09-06 22:12:00 | No problems with the PSIS website in all three browsers here (Opera, Firefox and IE). What a brilliant website though, has to be the easiest banking site of the lot to navigate and find info. Bouquets for them, not brickbats. ;-)

2004-09-06 22:20:00 | Easiest way to increase or decrease the font size in Firefox is by using Ctrl+Plus (to increase) and Ctrl+Minus (to decrease). | antmannz (28) | |
2004-09-06 22:43:00 | Fine in Firefox 9.2, but then I normally don't rely on defaults and tweak the settings to suit me. My settings for a 17" CRT monitor are: Tools > Options > General > Fonts & Colours, make sure you fonts are set to Western, Propertional = 16 pixels, Mono space = 13 pixels, Display resolution = 96 and Minimum font size = none. Is View > Character encoding on Auto or Western ISO Have you got Tools > Options > Advanced > Multimedia Large images set to fit in browser windows. Thats all I can think of for the moment. Write down your current settings then have a play with the fonts, some settings will need a refresh or restart of the browser to take effect, can't remember which though. Cheers Murray P

2004-09-06 22:51:00 | >>Recently I emailed the webmaster for the PSIS banking site, which was fine when I used IE, but is messy (line & colour overlays on homepage & others) since I switched to Firefox. Transactions work fine, but it's hard to read. >>I got a prompt and lengthy reply, which I was very pleased with. I'm a PSIS customer too and i have used firefox on ithe website for ages with none of the problems you seem to be having, I found it to be a little snappier in firefox than in IE, although I do use the bog standard font size. Which brings me to a problem i am having with firefox, about a month ago a cleared firefoxs cache and cookies, and since then it has been a dog about 50% of the time when i click on a link I get a little message popping up saying >"this object contains no data" and then sometimes it loads the page, othertimes it doesn't, I have also noticed that it seems to be running a lot slower with the antivirus I have installed "Panda Titanium Trial version" but as this does not contain a firewall, I'm a little perplexed as to why this is so, Previously I had "panda platinum" which came with everything including a firewall and it had no problem whatsoever (but it was a trial that came with my mobo or graphics card) >>>>>>sorry about the hijacking of the thread but it is firefox related
