1370262 2014-03-15 19:33:00 Hi all,

My PC is well past it's used by date (Opteron 170 on AMD64 platform), so i'm looking to build a new box .

Intent:
- The PC will be used for web browsing, multimedia, productivity and light gaming .
- Because of the mostly non demanding usage, i'm looking to not break the bank, but just spend what it costs to be happy with it . I am likely to keep this for a LONG time .
- The PC I use at work every day is a Ivy Bridge i5, so I don't want something that is significantly slower .
- I would like it to be smaller and quieter than my current box, which is in a Lian Li PC-7B .

Other parts:
- I have a 23" Dell 1920x1080 monitor that i'll keep + a wireless keyboard, mouse and speaker .
- I also have multiple storage drives that ill go into the build .

Here is the MicroATX build i'm currently thinking . The pricespy list can be found here - . co . nz/list . php?l=109881&view=l" target="_blank">pricespy . co . nz

Motherboard - Asus H87M-E
CPU - Intel Core i5 4440 3 . 1Ghz Socket 1150 Box
RAM - G . Skill Ripjaws X DDR3 PC12800/1600MHz CL9 2x4GB
PSU - Corsair CX430M 430W
SSD - Samsung 840 EVO Series MZ-7TE120 120GB
Optical Drive - Lite-On iHAS324
Case - Silverstone Temjin TJ08B-E (Black)

I'm interested to know if anything looks:

- Unbalanced about the build
- If there are any components that I should upgrade, downgrade or look at different brands .

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

1370263 2014-03-15 21:38:00 does that board have on board graphics gary67 (56)
1370264 2014-03-15 21:47:00 Hi Gary67,

The GPU is in the Haswell CPU I believe. It is a HD4600 (GT2) which I think should be fine for my needs. The motherboard has all the outputs (HDMI, DVI, VGA) required.

Cheers

1370265 2014-03-15 22:14:00 looks reasonably good, with the setup listed, its a good starting point, if you later decide to increase performance a bit, should you need to you can add more Memory or a Graphic Card should the "light" gaming turn into a bit more than light ;) But if that happens depending on how hard its pushed ( read as power usage) the PSU may need upgrading as well for more stability. wainuitech (129)

1370267 2014-03-15 22:25:00 Wainui - Thanks for your thoughts. Yeah, I do wonder if I may be better to go for a slightly bigger PSU now. To be honest, I just don't see me doing much PC gaming.

Icow - glad to hear you're a fan! I did a fair bit of research on cases. I thought about the Fractal Design Define Mini but it looks like that case isn't actually any smaller than my ATX.
