1369883 2014-03-09 23:18:00 Does anybody know if it's possible to feed the signal from my PC to the TV via the Freeview?

The router has four ethernet ports and the freeview box will accept a cable with a standard RJ45 plug. There is some connectivity there - the freeview has two LEDs (orange and green) above the port that flash on and off.

The difficulty is I can't figure out how to get the freeview to send the signal to the TV.

So far, the TEAC HD-B6T works perfectly but there is no manual available on-line that may help. Direct Imports in Hastings have the TEAC agency but have been unable to help. They lost me when they started talking about identifying IP addresses but they didn't know much more. The TEAC accepts USB or HDMI for the purpose of recording, but I haven't done anything with that as I have zero desire for it.

Can anybody help?

:)

1369884 2014-03-10 00:52:00 According to this, Ethernet port is not active on this unit. (directimports.co.nz)

I have no idea, what that means. But, why have it, if it doesn't work?

The ethernet if it does work, would probably be for updating the firmware. And it wont direct / redirect anything from the PC to the TV

1369885 2014-03-10 02:45:00 You could use the TV as a monitor for the PC for Netflix if it's close enough and has a spare input, but no I don't think you can do what you ask.

A Media PC with a DVB-T TV tuner could do both Jobs and be a PVR as well but that would prob cost a bit to set up.

1369886 2014-03-10 05:49:00 Thanks guys for the reponses ...

Paul, your answer was essentially what the Direct Imports people were saying - and raising the same questions you did. They also said they had had difficulty in obtaining much technical info from TEAC.

Dugimodo, that may be part of the answer. The TV has a spare S Video input and I have a splitter for the monitor. Is it just a matter of installing the splitter, with whatever is needed to connect to the S Video input? Sorry I don't know the technical terms for all this and what the parts are called.

:D

1369887 2014-03-11 01:11:00 I was thinking more in terms of HDMI, I note you said the freeview box has an input so you could connect the output of a DVI or HDMI port on a graphics card either to that or directly to the TV if it has an HDMI input.

S-video would work if your PC graphics has an output for it but the resolution would be limited and in my experience not great. Some TV's also have a standard D-sub VGA input.

Thanks dugimodo for your additional input, but alas no HDMI ports on the TV, only S-Video. Work In Progress
