1369879 2014-03-09 22:26:00 As per my previous threads on this new lappie (www.ascent.co.nz) I'm struggling to get the right type of extra RAM. My supplier is Ascent (http://www.ascent.co.nz/) who have a fantastic reputation, but aren't exactly living up to expectations.

On one hand their fine support staff are suggesting this product (www.ascent.co.nz) (I'm after two of them to fill the available slots), but this is only a suggestion. On the other hand they state on their page:

Important information on returning RAM

RAM cannot be returned for credit or a refund if it is not faulty. If you are unsure whether or not this module is compatible with your device, please use our Memory Configurator or check with the manufacturer before ordering

The weird thing about this machine is that the two existing RAM sticks are in slots which are hidden beneath the keyboard, and opening it all to expose the slots is not only perilous given my limited ability and experience with notebook computers, but is technically an authorised-dealer-only operation, and my attempts to delve could result in voiding the warranty.

Their site's "Memory Configurator" page doesn't work for me.

Does anyone have any exact information which RAM I should buy, please, or should I do my supplier's job and call Toshiba myself?

DDR3L 1600Mhz. Says it on the notebook specs.

www.kingston.com

If the RAM is under the KB, then technically it might void the warranty, UNLESS its done by an authorised Service agent .
But how would they know.... make sure you keep the original RAM in case you need to put it back in.

Ive heard some pretty crappy things about what cant be replaced/upgraded by resellers without voiding warranty on Sony's .

1369882 2014-03-10 02:00:00 Had that the other week, an ASUS, said it was upgradeable, BUT to get to the memory Slots you had to completely disassemble the laptop, the Memory Slots were on the under side of the motherboard, so remove the KB, top cover, unplug everything, then the complete board had to be unscrewed from the bottom case and removed. Its almost as if when they designed the case they forgot to include a removable panel on the bottom to access it.

If you wanted to change the HDD it was similar, but that needed the keyboard removed and top section of the case :waughh:
