1351486 2013-08-18 00:34:00 Just ordered it, nice lady from telecom told me to go on the smallest plan as I have tivo and traffic is still unmetered. So faster and cheaper, win win:clap plod (107)
1351487 2013-08-18 06:56:00 It's not like TiVo last time, all plans are flat rate regardless of TiVo Coz Telecom want to see how much users end up using. Same for their UFB. Chilling_Silence (9)

1351489 2013-08-18 07:34:00 I thought all their UFB/VDSL plans were unmetered for a limited time? Greven (91)

Only UFB - unless you are TiVo

Incorrect - usage for VDSL is metered just like ADSL. Unless you are a TiVo customer with Telecom.

If you are TiVo, you are currently unmetered no matter how you receive your gigglebits....

UFB is also unmetered currently, but that has nothing to do with whether you're TiVo or not.

Duly noted, I stand corrected.

1351493 2013-08-19 00:16:00 I'm still paying for the 150G plan despite it not being metered for quite some time now, I probably should have switched but there's no way to know how long this will last and I get a cheap deal throguh work anyway. I find though you reach a certain level of usage and tend to stay there, even if I had no cap I wouldn't exced 150G very often. I'm only on this plan because there aren't any worthwhile options for me between the lowest plan and this one, mainly just options with more telephone features and a lower cap for the same sort of price.

On the VDSL front, very glad I made the change it's working really well and so far the router they supplied has been very reliable. I can pretty much do whatever I like and it works flawlessly including (and this really happens) downloading a file while watching music videos on you tube and playing wow online simultaneously. Previously the latency in wow would go up rapidly with heavy internet usage making the game unplayable while downloading. I also tried streaming a HD movie from the MS video app in windows 8, worked flawlessly.

1351494 2013-08-19 00:54:00 Am I right to say that Telecom's UFB is unmetered, meaning it's unlimited data download/upload? Is it mentioned any where in their website?

If so, why there are different data plan options like 80GB, 150GB and 500GB?

It is an introduction offer, they will introduce excess data charges, probably by the end of this year. I suspect it's mostly a technical limitation atm. Their current T&Cs for UFB include

Please note you will not be able to view any data usage information (e.g. Usage meter) until later this year. This also means we won’t charge you any overage if you go over your usage entitlement or throttle your connection. We will inform you prior to turning usage including overage or throttling on.
