2014-03-17 11:21:00 | Oops!! I don't think I meant that: <but outgoing was mapped to pop3.xtra.co.nz and is now changed to send.xtra.co.nz> as it should be smtp.orcon.net.nz, there was a carry-over cut and paste in my notes that confused the issue somewhat. However, it still seems to be the Orcon account that is giving me the problems because it won't accept my password, though I'm not 100% sure about Xtra either and it is too late at night for clear thinking so I'll try again in the morning. In theory nothing should have changed for Orcon. Cheers Billy 8-{)

2014-03-17 20:41:00 | What a difference a night makes! This morning I fired up my old W2K machine and checked the details there and apart from the port issues etc they were the same as I was using, then went back to do battle and found that the Xtra/Orcon disagreement had resolved itself as we slept and all was working as it should. I didn't have to change anything further, so who knows what the issue was. Only wasted about six hours of my time. I found out when I saw my switch suddenly start wittering away sending something and I thought OI OI!!! Cyabro: You need to verify that you own an email address before they will let you send from it using their outgoing mail servers. All that was done years ago and hasn't needed any changes thanks. Its as if their website is such a mess no-one knows whats even on there quoteth Click the Advanced tab Enter 110 for Incoming Server (POP3) Ensure the box marked This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) is NOT ticked Enter 587 for Outgoing Server (SMTP) Ensure the box marked This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) is NOT ticked.

2014-03-18 09:12:00 | when someone phones me, my phone tells them that i am not available. driving me nuts. Off topic, start another thread maybe. But I'd ring faults, sounds like a line issue is making your phone permanently busy. I assume you have call minder or something? Actually how did that post get in this thread with a different title???

2014-03-19 04:17:00 | When I tried to ring Telecom about my problem, all I got from them was a long wait . Next time I'll pick up that damned weight and knock the @*#&ing Sparks out of 'em . I even tried after midnight, but they were still busy . The wait is probably 3 weeks by now and climbing . . . . . . . . . Cheers Billy 8-{) :badpc:

2014-03-19 22:13:00 | It keeps asking for the network password for send.xtra etc as well, but that password is auto-entered anyway so the correct PW is there. things to try for the user name/password, did you put in your full email adress as the login name ?? (thats needed) , full email adress when the popup asks for correct login/password. Telecom still have some wrong setup info on their website. That really doesnt help. If you google it may take you to the wrong page with old info. This is the correct page help.telecom.co.nz Try logging into xtra webmail. That will sometimes magicly clear the issue . It will also confirm you have the correct password. for send , instead of SSL try auto Try re-entering the pass in the email setup, go to advanced options for email sending: there will be options for send login/pass as well: check those (its usually: use same as incoming) Some free AV is incompatible(their claim not mine) with email SSL, that might be the issue (but doubt it) then there is the known issue of passwords not working for anywhere from a hour to several weeks, then work again for no reason. This is something Ive seen on a few users email a/c's (incl mine), but its something they dont like to admit to. Usually caused by having a PC & ph logging into the same email a/c. Yahoo/xtra is a terrible email service . Expect issues .
