1369619 2014-03-06 23:15:00 No other Apple stuff required, but you can use an iPod Touch/iPhone as a remote if you choose to, otherwise just use the remote it comes with. Alex B (15479)
1369620 2014-03-06 23:34:00 is #2 required to use netflix on the Apple TV?

Does Apple TV require me to have other Apple devices? The only Apple device we have in the house is my daughter's little ipod thing.

Cheers,
Mike.

No, however in order to pay for netflex, you will need a credit card that has some sort of US address etc....ie: you wont be able to pay for netflix using a NZ credit card....so with a US itunes account which you can purchase US gift vouchers etc, you can then pay for your netflix.....

A bit convoluted I know.....

A bit convoluted I know.....ah OK, so not required for the Apple TV then :) I already have a netflix account so paying for it is not an issue, just getting it onto my TV :)

You are sorted then.....all you need is the DNS server address...AND make sure the appleTV thinks you are in the USA, otherwise the Netflix icon wont come down

Not true, I pay for mine on my ANZ Visa

1369624 2014-03-07 01:01:00 How did you first get the Netflix account then Alex?....would certainly be easier to pay just with NZ card..... SolMiester (139)
1369625 2014-03-07 03:01:00 From memory I just signed up via Netflix.com using the Slingshot Global Mode, can't really remember sorry, it was 6 months ago or so. Alex B (15479)
1369626 2014-03-07 04:22:00 Don't you have to use a VPN or proxy to access Netflix in NZ due to it not officially being offered here?
I ask because it makes me wonder if it's possible to do it on a device other than a PC?hmmm... you may be right :( I got the netflix icon into my Wii-U, however it says I can't connect. My PC and phones/tablet connect fine through my internet connection (haven't made any DNS changes for them) but Wii-U won't connect...

I could connect HDMI to my tablet, but that is a bit of a pain as no way to control other than by the tablet which would be sitting next to the tv... need some kind of remote to the tablet then I guess :)

Might check out the AppleTV thing, but a bit hesitant now that it might still not work...

Cheers,
Mike.

1369627 2014-03-07 04:45:00 Do you use firefox Mike?? I think there IS an addon that'll you watch it WITHOUT having to use VPN. Just tested an addon (dont know if I should list it here) on the BBC / Iplayer site, I saw their live TV. Disabled it it stopped broadcasting / said it's only available in the UK

You can even watch their parliament / other channels
