| 270755 | 2004-09-09 12:32:00 | off my head, I would choose a reputable custom builder .. shop for prices and bargain. i get a used 21" sony trinitron CRT. 1GB of RAM. 2.5Ghz+, I am not too sure of the cpu prices at the mo' :) add his fancy DVD writier, the mobo should have a 100BT LAN, add a wireless lan card saw some cheap DSW triband ones the other day with the mailout ... get a gamers card. does not have be the latest models ... its better to get a older model that is full speed than a modern one that is not. i would try to hit 60GB, if its possible within budget. try to hit a FSB 800 mobo and cpu with hyperthread. i hope this woul fit! |

| 270757 | 2004-09-09 12:38:00 | Goto a site similar to this (www.computermedic.co.nz) to get an idea of what the cost would be. You can then upgrade all the way to you spend all your money. | Rob99 (151) | ||
| 270758 | 2004-09-09 13:06:00 | Tell your brother to look into: www.computermedic.co.nz Ive got one, only mine is a Pentium4 2.8Ghz Works brilliant with Linux. Ive not tried PCMCIA, nor Firewire... Everything else is sweet as though. Metla is able to upgrade it for you to DVD Writer. The laptops are awesome, great battery life, rock solid (Ive had mine yanked off a desk a few times with people passing by and knocking it or yankin the power cable. Havent tried with the built-in webcam either come to think of it.... No OS, and Linux friendly, all at a great price... What more could you want ;-) Chill. |
