| 270730 | 2004-09-09 10:14:00 | For some reason, I cannot right click MP3's without crashing explorer. The message "Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". Along with the usual "do you wish to tell Microsoft about this" etc etc. Details gives the following; AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: kernel32.dll ModVer: 5.1.2600.2180 Offset: 00022a02 This only happens with MP3 files, nothing else. It's a real pain, as I cannot copy, cut, rename, delete etc (the "file" option on the menu bar also brings the same result). Running XP home sp2 (problem also existed with sp1) on XP2800+. |

| 270732 | 2004-09-09 11:17:00 | Bit of a strange problem. A bit of a google suggests that a MP3 converter program has caused this exact same problem for one person. Have you tried uninstalling any MP3 utilities/programs you have? Also, have you checked your system for any spyware using Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad-aware? | Jen C (20) | ||
| 270733 | 2004-09-09 19:53:00 | I don't think the whole system is "borked" (whatever that means), as problems with MP3's only tend to point to a problem with MP3 related stuff. As for the MP3 converter, yes I do have one installed (MP3 to wave), but have never used it since installing XP (have used it when on W98). I will try an uninstall though to check. Spyware is not a problem as always run ad-aware on a regular basis. |
