271136 2004-09-11 00:40:00 One of the hidden files on the C drive is called pagefile.sys
I was wondering what this file contains, coz it's pretty big, same 240mb, and why is this file there?, what does it do?

Thanks

271139 2004-09-11 00:55:00 Oh, okay, cheers, what are the consequences should I decide to "play around" with it? Scattershot06 (4844)
271140 2004-09-11 00:56:00 its not as bad as drb1 makes it out to be. if you delete it windows will simply make a new one on restart hence there is very little point to removing it. tweak'e (174)

271142 2004-09-11 01:13:00 never seen a problem with deleting the pagefile (sometimes usefull for defraging). damaged page file is a different story. tweak'e (174)

Then untill he/she learns Exactly what it does, and exactly how to repair/replace it. Should it not be treated with considerable respect. There is a section on it in M/s help and on their site.
