271044 2004-09-10 13:51:00 Everytime I boot up I get a message box with the heading "qttask.exe - No Disk" then it reads "There is no disk in drive. Please insert a disk into drive\device\Harddisk1\DR2" (My OS: Windows XP Home) Any ideas how to get rid of it please. Thanks fritz (1552)
271045 2004-09-10 20:20:00 This error is caused by the QuickTime player starting up and looking for a previous played item which it does'nt need to .
go to start then in the run box type msconfig and in startup uncheck quicktime then it won't start up . Also have a look in quicktime there is some setting in there to stop it starting.

Also there is a Quick Time Alternative here (www.free-codecs.com)

271046 2004-09-11 00:32:00 Thanks johnboy you have been a great help thanks to you, I managed to solve the problem; have deleted the offending file in the Quicktime folder. However, now I got another problem,- the connection icon in the System Tray doesn't show up (have checked in the Task Manager, the connection box is ticked) Got any ideas? Will write a sepearta post regarding this problem. Thanks again for your help.
Cheers

271047 2004-09-11 00:48:00 I assume you mean either your dialip connection or network connection in the system tray.

If I remember rightly there is a tick box in the modem properties for the dialup one.

To enable the network icons in the system tray go, Start > Settings > Netwrk & Dialup Connections > Local Area Connection, right click this or open and select properties > chech the tick box at the botom of the dialoge box that says "Show icons in the taskbar when connected".

271048 2004-09-11 01:27:00 Thanks Murry P, yes that box has been checked, it has been all the time -still no icon showing up. My OS: XP Home (dail-up)
Don't really know what to do now, have no trouble connecting but it makes disconnecting from the net very awkward.

271049 2004-09-11 01:34:00 If you can't get your icon back on the taskbar then you can just make a shortcut to the connection that can be double-clicked to bring up the disconnect button. The short cut can be placed on the desktop,on the taskbar in the quicklaunch section or pinned onto your start menu.

Or alterntivly you can adjust your start menu properties so it apears as a connect-to menu.

271050 2004-09-11 05:46:00 Thanks metla, - I think you mistook what I meant (my fault didn't really make it clear enough) the icon I lost is the one in the System Tray next to the clock which tells me that I am connected; not the one which connects me to my ISP. Sorry I should have explained it better - thanks anyway.
Cheers,

271051 2004-09-11 06:38:00 Try this right click a clear spot on the taskbar and click properties then customize are the connection icons there ? clicking on the icons will show a drop down box to change wether they hide or show.
Have you played with any thing when you were checking out the problem with quicktime ??.

271053 2004-09-11 09:14:00 Hi Johnboy, did what you suggested - the missing icon is not listed there. No, it has nothing to do with me playing round with Quicktime, it disappeared before I did that. Thanks for your interest.
