271027 2004-09-10 10:56:00 Hi everyone,
I have just put exchange on my server and at the moment it can't recive any emails becuase im not sure about how to do the MX record. I need to use NO-IP becuase i have a dynamic ip.
Do i need two NO-IP accounts or can i just have different hosts on my no-ip thing.

Thanks
Daniel

271028 2004-09-10 11:17:00 as far as i know......

you can do it all with the one no-ip account.

just set up the MX record as you would on any other DNS server.

assumeing you have dwnz.no-ip.info...

set the MX record for that domain to point at the domain name of the mail server.

eg

mail.dwnz.no-ip.info

the mail.dwnz.no-pi.info might be the same box as the main system.

if you need more help the do a search on google for "dns mx howto"

271030 2004-09-10 11:25:00 And also my exchange isn't sending out the emails under its own domain. Last time i had it running it would send out emails using what ever domain i gave it, and now it doesn't send any thing out, they just get stuck in the que dwnz2003 (5250)

271032 2004-09-13 04:44:00 You don't need an MX record, an A record will do fine.
You probably need to configure your recipient policy to include the domain you want as inbound. Port 25 on the exchange server will need to be reachable from the internet.
Ideally if your ISP lets you relay off their SMTP server, you should configure it as a smart host in your SMTP virtual server.

Using exchange at home is a bit like making a bear dance.
