| 270927 | 2004-09-10 06:02:00 | I ticked a box in tweak UI I think it was something about splash screen (Im not sure though) and I think there was something about user in it but not entirely sure. Now when I turn on the computer it comes up in dos command prompt mode how can I get back into Windows and reverse what I have done. Im running Win 98 SE. Thank You To Anyone that can help! |

| 270935 | 2004-09-10 13:28:00 | Way back in MSDOS 3.3 I renamed the format command so that your friendly person who knows everything can't just type "format C:" and expect it to work. Different of course if that person arrives with a bootable floppy with the format.com on it. WinXP is more secure than MSDOS happily. How secure is linux if I have unrestricted access to your computer in a physical sense? Most people I have found with a problem is that they have allowed physical access to the computer. |

| 270936 | 2004-09-10 13:48:00 | You'll get nothing done in Linux without the right user root password which is alot more secure than Window's one, I guess someone could set their Linux box to boot straight to root but it's not likely and certainly not encouraged even to logon as root hence you get prompted for a password as soon as you start doing anything vaguely like admin stuff. But as your may be aware I'm just a noob in Linux so my explanation could be wide of the mark. Cheers Murray P |
