| 270855 | 2004-09-10 01:26:00 | Is anyone with the above mentioned World-Net ISP? I'm considering getting their Wired Country Service (1mbps, Unlimited Traffic for $99) but I have a few questions. Firstly I see on their website that they give 'Priority to Gamers'. Does this mean they are going to limit my speed on Kazaa, DC, IRC etc? Their helpdesk person didn't know, so does anyone here have first-hand experience? |

ISP's don't generally worry about what type of traffic is going across your connection, be it gaming, surfing, ftp-ing, chat etc. For that they would have to put in place monitoring systems etc. If they say 1mbps then that's what you'll get (give or take a few k's). The only exception might be hacking - they might tell you off. But anyway, priority for gaming just means it's a good plan for gamers. Cheers George |

A friend is currently with World-Net and has significant trouble with filesharing apps on ADSL. It's also of concern that their helpdesk staff don't know fairly basic stuff about their network. |
