271644	2004-09-12 06:02:00	Thought I'd post about a phono preamp I've found and bought, for saving records and tapes onto the hard drive to convert to cd's.It's called a Terratec Studio USB Phono Preamp, and comes with a program Sound Rescue 2 which is a basic editor to take hiss and clicks from a Wav file.This means that i just have to lug the tape or record player over to the pc and plug them in.Signal in is saved via USB and this means it bypasses my grotty sound card! And sounds miles better. Just in case anyone's interested.And no,I don't own the company!!! ;\	Neil McC (178)

(remove the dots between clinton and music).The price is $300.00,but you can bargain with the man! The unit came invoiced as " Terratec Phono USB". :-)	Neil McC (178)
271647	2004-09-13 00:42:00	You've been done :) You can get it for $200.97 inc GST at PCGear according to their website here (www.pcgear.co.nz). I must get around to transcribing my LP collection, but I was just going to use the pre-amp and RIAA equalisation of my Technics amplifier and feed that into the line in of the sound card. 271648	2004-09-13 00:52:00	Thanks Terry. :_| It actually cost me $229.00 incl GST.But was quoted the other price till I queried it! I have been feeding my tape deck into the line in of the sound card,but have been redoing some of my tapes as this way the saved wav sounds a lot better.But my machine is nearly 5 years old,so the sound card is ....p.And my stereo is too far away to run long leads,which I've tried.The tops were really rolled off!
