| 271319 | 2004-09-15 06:14:00 | I'll give that a try ... my PC does not even allow me to get onto webmail of Clear Net ..... some error icon on the bottom left corner. Maybe its too many security softwares have? I have taken them .... I've got ZA, spyware blaster, mcafee, panicware no popups, spybot with immunisation and ad-aware. i can do internet banking thou ... after adding it as a 'safe site' to always allow cookies. I've also taken security level and privacy right down just to get on Clear Net email .. does not work, neither for this Gmail. I'll try this another PC. Thanks. |

| 271320 | 2004-09-15 09:07:00 | its working on the older PC. thanks. dunno why not on the laptop. I think with win95' IE 4 it does not work unless you keep pressing yes when the script dialog box comes up. i got til the intro tutorial page until IE fell over ... its so buggy i have not bothered to reload the software. cos the registry errors comes back every week! for the same reason have not got IE 5.5 on it... did not thought it was this bad when i had win95' at the start.. oh yeah the laptop also has browser hijack blaster. |

If you have consistent browsing habits to trusted sites this will lower your risk of "catching" something... (whatever something is these days). I get the impression you are running an early version of MS windows, this is fine for basic tasks, but, for "modern" browsing you really need the security of the latest versions, 2000 or XP, when kept up to date, this will offer you the best security and safest browsing, then add your pick of Antivirus, firewall, spyware finder/remover and you have the basic's covered, thinking if you have multiple version's of similar types of software you are getting a little like overkill?, taking the fun out having a computer and browsing the web. Good security also comes from knowing where to get a fix for something, I keep a CD disk(updated) with most removal tools available.. for most basic bugs.. this allows me to run my system without the clutter of many programs running "Just in case" (I've used it 3 times in as many years) So your Gmail works on the older computer but it appears somwhere along the line in your newer putter you have secured yourself to the point of not recieving the information you want. So go find the middle ground with your security I guess. |
