271282 2004-09-11 11:44:00 I have problems with a CD. On my old desktop running WINDOWS98 it is easy to see that the CD has 2 volumes. I go to My Computer - select the drive - right click - go to properties and then there is a VOLUME page for me. Both the volumes on the CD show up and I can switch from one to the other.
Using my HP laptop running WINDOWS98 I find only one volume can be used.
I can go a similar route - My Computer - right click on the relevant drive - go to properties - now I have a HARDWARE page - on this page is my CD drive. I click on it and get the Volumes page. But even after pressing the POPULATE key only one of the volumes shows up - what has happened to the original volume ?
And more importantly how do I switch volumes?

271283 2004-09-11 11:56:00 Ah what do u mean by 2 volumes?

I know where populate is and what it does. It gives u info on whatever hdd / cd / dvd. I think it would only have 1 volume, as there is only 1 side to most cds.

271284 2004-09-11 12:16:00 A different volume is created each time you start a new Burn on a CD. Only one side to a CD yes but I have as many as about 6 volumes on some of my CDs and have no problem switching on the desktop. It is a very handy action to be able to switch from volume to volume and saves me using more CDs at times. But only on my desktop running W98. I just cannot see how to do it on XP but surely there must be a method. Thomas01 (317)
271285 2004-09-11 12:29:00 And what are you using in XP for CD's, if youre using XP now??

XP's built in burning or something else?

271286 2004-09-11 12:33:00 Easy CD Creator 5 But this appears of little use to find the missing volume. I am just using the XP route as I detailed in the original memo to try and get the missing volume to appear. Thomas01 (317)
271287 2004-09-11 12:39:00 Ah ok umm V5 of that without the updates will cause probs with XP .

V5 alone isnt compatible with XP . Have u updated CD Creator 5?

I use V6 of that . I turned XP's burning off it's useless .
