Most of my family members are pretty computer illiterate, and since I'm doing an IT course, I thought I'd do the honours of maintaining our family computer. Though I'm just a newbie at being an admin. For instance, my younger brother has a friend who is pretty computer savvy and when he is at out house he likes to play around on the computer. Iv'e restricted access to 3 admin tool features for example under win XP pro. However, a User(which everyone is, except me) still has access to Event Viewer, Component Services, Performance, and Data Sources(ODBC). Can a User do any anything to the settings in these features that may crash the system or something else not so nice? |

| 271737 | 2004-09-13 01:28:00 | a few ifs here if your file system is NTFS if your users are not supervisors (administrators) of the pc or able to logon as one They will not be able to do any mischief to your pc they will most proberly get "insufficient rights to preform this action" message if its something likely to endanger your system integrity Note: You should only have possibly two user accounts that have admin rights (1 for backup) you unless performing system admin should also login as a nonadministrator for normal day to day work |
