272177 2006-12-07 07:56:00 firstly i defianantly know that data cannot be recovered from a melted form of medium such as Cds or hard drives, which is why if the feds show up at my door i always have a roaring fire ready for my hard drive. The old method of hard drive destruction was to drill a hole through it anywhere. But identity theifs and other such a-holes figured out how to do deep data recovery. which is when you can look at the data that is on a drive regardless of whether or not it is supposed to be visible. When you delete a file youre not really "erasing" it. all youre doing is telling windows that that file is no longer needed and that that section of drive that it was taking up is now available to write to. so if nothing gets written over it, then it will still be there.... for identity theft. so when i have the need to throw out a drive that may contain credit card #s emails whatever. I MELT IT IN A FIRE NOT A MICROWAVE gamer3100 (6157)
272178 2006-12-07 07:59:00 and i also know that there is a way to actually RE burn (and erase) a cd r. i watched my friend do it. i dont remember what he did but he had a burnt music disc and erased it and put porn on it lol gamer3100 (6157)
272179 2006-12-07 10:17:00 What's wrong with using a good old set of heavy duty kitchen scissors??

Ever tried playing a sliver of a CD in a CD player?

Get real :(

272181 2006-12-07 23:17:00 Why did you bring up a thread that is over 2 years old? It has not been brought up for over 2 years old because people stopped caring and let the thread DIE The_End_Of_Reality (334)
272182 2007-03-13 18:01:00 I've actually erased data from a cdr and had all 700mb afterwards. It was probably just a one time glitch in the software but somehow it did it. I was using Nero. I started adding files and then clicked burn but realized my cd tray was still out so i pushed it in. I then got an error message (i dont remember what it said. It exited and i went to add them again and the previous data wasnt there so i went to check the free space and it said i still had all 700mb. DarkFenix (6158)
