272344 2004-09-15 05:27:00 There are only three options:

1) The computer is broken.

2) The monitor is broken.

3) The monitor isn't plugged in/connected/switched on.

The rest is simply in the details (where the devil lives) :D

If faults are described through the eyes of the customer, the cure is best explained through the same route, at an equivalent level.

1) Computer repaired, medium to large bill attached.

2) Monitor repaired/replaced, medium to large bill attached.

3) You were 100% right, it didn't work. Interruption to power/video delivery system traced and rectified, small to medium bill attached.

Any service person who insulted their customer's intelligence by telling them they had made a stupid mistake should be taken out and shot.

Cheers

Agreed.

Does the computer POST ( Power On Self Test)?

272348 2004-09-15 11:25:00 I'm not complaining about this thread, Earnie.
Reading it took little time, after all, and unlike others I didn't rack my brains to guess the answer - knowing my computer limitations.
However, I am curious about the question you asked in an earlier post this morning
( Repairs: do you charge "labor"? )
That developed into an interesting thread in the course of the day - and sparked another - but not before assorted guesses about what you actually MEANT by the question.
I'm sure I'm not the only one still wondering about that..?
Are you planning to put us out of our misery - or will this become one of life's great unexplained mysteries?
