| 272288 | 2004-09-14 11:46:00 | rompt timeout=60 default=YOS vga=791 boot=/dev/hdb I think you have got hold of that section from my old Mepis lilo.conf when I was stitching it together, the above in Yoper's points to the boot partition which is the same partition that Mepis used and as listed by you. But maybe I have to put the old Mepis windows lines into Ypers lilo.conf for it to work rather than the fairly basic one that Yoper uses (in bold plumb below). The quotation (speach) marks are exactly as Mepis used it and are a direct copy, I'll see what happens san them and the (.) at the front of the line, but maybe I should try one thing at a time, eh? lba32 bitmap = /boot/yoper_boot.bmp bmp-colors = 1,,0,2,,0 bmp-table = 120p,173p,1,15,17 bmp-timer = 254p,432p,1,0,0 image=/boot/yos label=YOS read-only root=/dev/hdd9 append = "splash=silent " initrd=/boot/initrd-2.6.8.1-3.img > other=/dev/hda1 > label=Windows image="/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.22" vga=791 label="mepis" append="nomce hdc=ide-scsi" root="/dev/hdd6" Cheers Murray P |

| 272290 | 2004-09-14 13:33:00 | Thanks for your offer George, I got a 404 page not found although the rest of the site loads ok . I do have an NTLDR file in my root directory, it's just that it's not being referenced properly and I can't figure out why . I've got rid of Mepis from the /boot and put lilo . conf back to how it was with just Yoper and windows listed but now it seems like I have a major rebuild on my hands once again . Oh well, such is life when you want to fiddle, looks like one of these OS's has to go . I'm just a bit perplexed that a decent boot loader hasn't been incorporated into Linux yet, might have to go for a 3rd party one which will do the job, still I would have preferred to sort this one out . | 272291 | 2004-09-14 17:54:00 | Well, I'm back in Yoper after not being able to get into any OS at all for several hours. I'm going to give windows a crack now. Cheers Murray P |

| 272292 | 2004-09-14 18:29:00 | In windows now, the boot process is really wierd. I'll explain another time, I'm getting some much needed shut eye, if those freaking birds will shut up that is. Cheers Murray P |
