| 272489 | 2004-09-15 03:38:00 | Hi there! I was wondering if someone can enlighten me as to the following problem. I am trying to transfer programs and file settings from my old computer to my new one. My old computer runs WinXP Pro my new computer runs Win XP Home. I am using the File and Settings Transfer Wizard that comes with Windows. Both computers recognize each other via COM1 port. Everything goes brilliantly until: My old computer gathers all the information, but then it hangs at the stage when it tries to connect with the new computer. I have tried moving the computers away from any power points, but that hasn't rectified the problem. Anybody got any other ideas? I thank you all in advance for your help! Thanx, Brian |

If you go to Start-Help and Support and type in direct cable connection and then file transfer wizard into the search box there are about 30 helpful MS Knowledge base articles, some of which may be of direct help. |
