272938 2004-09-16 16:06:00 Hey there.

Random question but still enough to annoy me to come here.

When you select text and start typing, usually it wipes it out and starts typing over it.

Just recently when I do that it doesn't wipe it out and instead starts typing before it. This is really annoying and I'm just wondering what the heck caused this to happen and how I can change it back to wipe text when I type over selected text.

Cheers

On the remote chance its Word, then Tools - Options - Edit tick "typing replaces selection"

They indicate whether text will be overwritten (OVR) or just inserted (INS) beside the original text. To toggle between INS and OVR, just push the "Insert" key on your keyboard and you will see the status change from OVR to INS. Jen C (20)
