273480 2004-09-18 09:36:00 Quick Find Icons on the desktop of the pc in the lounge (we have 'em everywhere...)
AMD Athlon K6 550Mhz
10 Gig HD
184 (yes!) MB Ram
OS Win ME
They were the result (for memory) of an attempt to copy something on Nero (legal of course..) Basically they can be deleted but return once again on start-up...help please !
I have uploaded a jpeg onto Image F1 called "QuickFF" havent worked out how to get it here though ! (the icons are a sheet of text with a magnifier on top...)
And once again one sends a post to PressF1 hoping that one is not seen as a total dork !
Cheers Linz.

273483 2004-09-18 10:17:00 If they are as you say copies of files from a nero burning session have a look where nero stores its temporary files do a search for some of the ones off the desktop to see where they are stored and then delete them from there.
Also stop nero running at startup go start / run/ type in msconfig and look for nero in the startup and untick it. that should stop these icons appearing on startup.

273484 2004-09-18 10:48:00 Well I checked...Nero has been uninstalled, the only application is B's Recorder Gold (Bundled with Sony CD Writer) I checked through explorer and couldnt find anything that resembled a temp folder at all...msconfig/start-up showed nothing at all for either program, did find an empty Nero folder left in programs directory...deleted it...status quo remains...

273485 2004-09-18 10:52:00 Ooh...and a search revealed the files only exist on the desktop..
Could it be anything to do with "read only/Hidden/Archive associations ?

273486 2004-09-18 10:57:00 Right click on one of them and see what they belong to etc. johnboy (217)
273487 2004-09-18 11:07:00 I did that Johnboy, and the answer was unknown application (maybe I should re-install Nero...) Linz53 (3302)
