273437 2004-09-18 06:07:00 I have four DVD's that I am trying to rip to a video file (proberly AVI). We are using a laptop that has a CDRW/DVD-ROM drive. I do not know what to do. I have downloaded about 4 differant programs and they don't seem to work. The last one I used said:
"Unable ot read form d:\video_ts\vts_03_0.vob. They drive my be locked." What program should I use to do this? Im looking for a good quality rip, but not bigger than 800~900mb's a dvd. (the best beat is proberly Div-X).

273438 2004-09-18 06:17:00 Well dvdshrink might be better if u haven't tried it. BUT if its a movie. I doubt any will be under 800-900mb when it is ripped.

If u want to fit 4 movies to hdd then DVD, I doubt that'll work either.

And what programs have u tried to use??

273439 2004-09-18 06:24:00 There is actually a program called dvd2avi,that can handle vob files.

Personally i would rip it to hd in vob format using dvd shrink ,then encode it into dvix, using dvd2avi,drdivx maybe?,or even something like Virtual dub, which can make use of whatever codecs you have onboard.

800-900mb is a realistic file size for a movie encoded into dvix.
