Yes, and Andreas does admit he cut some corners (namely with RPM descriptions).

He's just one guy... Fedora has a _lot_ of people.

Personally I like the speed of Yoper, and the fact it doesnt come with a million and one packages.

The "1 CD Distro" idea is good too :-)

Each to their own though... I was a Slackware / Gentoo user for a while too.... ;-)

273518 2004-09-21 08:06:00 I'll get there with another distro. Fedora suits me for learning and high speed yum updates :) Shaun Minfie (2961)

273520 2004-09-21 09:19:00 Hi Antonia

I would upgrade to Fedora Core 3 after it is released on 1st November 2004 as Fedora Core 1 has now been moved to the Legacy Project as the Fedora Project no longer officially supports Core 1.

You can read more here about the Fedora Legacy Project (http://fedoralegacy.org/).

I am not sure whether you can go straight from Core 1 to Core 3 as a upgrade, so nearer the time you should check out this information. That said, if you are just plodding around playing on Core 1, you could stay with it but be aware, whilst security fixes will be available via the Legacy Project, no new packages will be available for Core 1.

273521 2004-09-22 09:55:00 Thanks Shaun, I would appreciate receiving the discs as it took me forever to download Core 1.

I will email you with address details etc.
