273473 2004-09-18 06:46:00 Can anyone give me advise on the Google toolbar vs. the Yahoo toolbar with the spyware protection.
Or should I use both?

273474 2004-09-18 06:59:00 Neither have spyware protection as far as I'm aware, though they have pop-up blockers.

You don't need both.

Yahoo fires off & downloads all sorts of buttons etc every time you load the browser which is a pain in the ass, not as configurable as the google bar either.
Neither have spyware protection

273476 2004-09-19 02:42:00 I was reading a report on CNET in which they mention that the "new" spyware protection is particularly good??? migdale (961)
273477 2004-09-19 05:25:00 in regards to the popup blocker in XP SP2, is it good enough to forego the toolbars altogether? Mirddes (10)
273478 2004-09-19 05:37:00 In my experience the new IE popup blocker is a right pain.
I don't use the google bar for popups either, only for searching, damn handy.
If you are getting heaps of popups run spybot or lavasofts adaware, you may have some spyware installed
If you really want a popup blocker, you are better off downloading a good free one.
Or better still avoid the sites that give you the headaches
I've just read through googles features & ther is no mention of spyware protection, so I don't know where you got that from.

273479 2004-09-19 22:41:00 The spyware protection that I heard about was part of the Yahoo Toolbar as reviewed in a CNET publication. migdale (961)
