| 273798 | 2004-09-19 07:45:00 | Hiya I have an account with Geocities. They started adding those side banners which I dislike. Any webhost out there without them and free? I designed my own stuff offline then uploaded it. Before it had no ads with a own design webpage. Was not a problem till recently their ads pop on top of my stuff then it dissapeared and it came back today. Thanks. |

| 273802 | 2004-09-19 12:06:00 | I have looked up some support page off Orcon but cannot connect Dreamweaver's FTP. First I added host directory as /htdocs, it added it as /htdocs/ This did not work as it says cannot connect to the host .... Then I took this off and it got connected however I could not transfer files. Anyone had experience on this or should I just use a independent FTP proggie? |

You might what to wait in till the morning before using the account, as some time it takes the server a wee while to know that you have set up the account. It's up to you if you what to use an independent FTP proggie, but if you have any more problems with the Dreamweaver's FTP then you might what to use one. Hope this helps :), if not post back here |

| 273805 | 2004-09-19 12:49:00 | Dreamweaver is now working... I downloaded cute FTP as Orcon suggested and via the settings the host was supposed to be sitename.orcon.net.nz/htdocs I did not use the domain :D Cute FTP is just shareware ... :p |

| 273806 | 2004-09-19 13:24:00 | I have now copied the files across FTP. Dreamweaver list this as sitename.orcon.net.nz/htdocs then a branch down (sub folder) I have my files, including index.html. How do I get on my homepage? I typed sitename.orcon.net.nz/htdocs but it just brings me to the Orcon's start page. I tried typing sitename.orcon.net.nz/htdocs\index.html it says page not found. Where sitename is my sitename I created at registration. Orcon list: Host address: will be your Domain name: Do not use ftp or www at the beginning. If you are using our FreeHost plan, you will enter your site name, followed by Orcons domain name. eg sitename.orcon.net.nz Initial Remote Directory: will be as above: Only add /htdocs to the end. eg sitename.orcon.net.nz/htdocs, or domain.co.nz/htdocs If you are behind a firewall of some kind, you will need to switch to Passive Mode to enable sucessful File Transfers. |
