274110 2004-09-21 08:36:00 The best socket 754 motherboard avaliable at the moment is the MSI K8N Neo Platinum, its got heaps of feature, top preformance and one of the best overclockers on the market.

But if you want something thats future proof then buying a socket 754 board is a bad idea. Socket 754 has been relegated to the budget bin with AMD expected to only provide the low cost sempron CPU's for socket 754.

If you want something that'll last for a lil longer spend the extra cash and make the jump to socket 939. Unfortunatly there arent many 939 board avaliable on the market at the moment. A friend of mine has the Gigabyte GA-K8NSNXP-939 and its a horriable board, the Abit AV8 looks to be a good all round board and the MSI K8T Neo 2 reviews well and would also be worth taking into consideration.

From the reviews ive seen the nForce3 250 constantly preforms worse than the KT800 PRO, so as long as you get a KT800 PRO board that can lock the PCI/AGP frequencies there no reason to even consider the nForce3 unless you really really want the onboard firewall.
