273820 2004-09-19 09:48:00 I am trying to copy and paste a row of numbers in Word 2000 table format to an Excel 97 worksheet. Its a list of invoice numbers.
The problem is when they are pasted, they take up two spaces vertically.
In word they they only take one pretty nato space.
What am doing wrong is the situation recoverable.
The numbers are only 4 digits long. I dont want to retype the numbers in excel in case I get errors.
Thanks for any help you can give.

273821 2004-09-19 10:13:00 Could be to do with the way the values are formatted in word. Try using the "paste special" command and choose "values only" - Edit Menu or from menu using right mouse click.

Cheers Lucy

273822 2004-09-19 11:59:00 Have not got Excel 97 now, but from Excel XP:

Select the cells.
Format - cells - alignment - untick Wrap text.
You may need to tick and untick to effect the change.

Its common for this to happen, it takes formatting codes over from word.
