274606 2004-09-22 06:29:00 I have WinXP home and I installed WinXP Pro trial version, I want to uninstall this and go back to my Home edition, but how can I do this without having to re-install everything again.

Cheers

274607 2004-09-22 06:36:00 trail version, do you mean you installed pro without activating it,
to the best of my knowledge I dont think you can what is effectivly downgrading your os my advice is BACKUP all critical data because if you haven't activated the pro version it will disable itself I possibly think you are in for a reinstall of xp home.
Did you buy or borrow this pro version?

274608 2004-09-29 02:02:00 Sorry been away for a few days, I got the trial version sent out to me from the Microsoft site (I requested trial software and this came with the pack). I have looked on the site but nothing there and looked on the cd nothing there. I hope I don't have to do a full re-install.

Cheers

274609 2004-09-29 02:27:00 Is there anything under add/remove programs? metla (154)
274610 2004-09-29 06:43:00 Nothing at all relating to the trial version xineohp (3165)
274611 2004-09-29 07:32:00 Maybe it isn't a trial after all ;-) ~~~~~ s y ~~~~~ (2054)
274612 2004-09-29 07:34:00 is it possible to system restore to a point before the "trial' was loaded on ? ... or does that not work for OS "upgrades" ? KatiMike (242)
274613 2004-09-29 07:58:00 Can't do system restore as 2 weeks ago I had a virus that I had to turn system restore off to deal with it. So system restore lost all recovery points xineohp (3165)
274614 2004-09-29 08:14:00 May I ask why you may want to go back to Home when already have Pro? I suspect that the 'trial clock' aren't taking effect in many trial CDs. ~~~~~ s y ~~~~~ (2054)
274615 2004-09-29 21:19:00 I really have no need for the Pro version I was just being nosey and having a look at it, as for the clock thingy (as you can tell I'm not a techi) you said, all I know is that it keeps telling me that I have 15, 14, 13, 12 etc days left before I have to activate it. xineohp (3165)
