| 274323 | 2004-09-21 06:04:00 | Hey, A friend of mine is running windows xp but has forgotten her password to logon. I found a program at http://home.eunet.no which boots from a floppy (linux based) and allows you to change the password in the registry. This seems to function on my machine but hers doesn't seem to boot from the floppy drive on startup. And her BIOS has a password on it that she doesn't know. Does anyone know how to reset this password without being able to boot into windows or some other way around this? |

| 274324 | 2004-09-21 06:27:00 | what bios is it? have you checked to see if it will it boot from cd if so I can supply you with a link to a download for a bootable cd that will do the job whatever method or program you use, it is better to delete all passwords "not change them" until actually into windows, then you can create a new password |

| 274326 | 2004-09-21 06:31:00 | Download a program called KillCMOS - it should wipe out the password, but it wipes out all the BIOS settings as well. Don't know if you can run it in Windows though... maybe someone else can help you on that one! | wintertide (1306) | ||

| 274328 | 2004-09-21 07:37:00 | clear the bios password by taaking out the cmos battery for about 5 mins and put it back up and go from there and do as other posters have suggested | Patrick 2003 (277) | ||
