274406 2004-09-21 13:24:00 Hi I hope someone can advise me please.
Im using ZAL Security Suite V5; which told me recently it had detected and cleaned a virus. but no details. How can I find out what it was 'cos I think it hasnt got the lot. Since then all my peripherals/plug ins have gone down one by one - monitor, keyboard, printer, scanner then modem. I have uninstalled and reinstalled all drivers. I thought I was sweet but now my keyboard has gone again.
I was stunned recently to read in PCW mag that most virus checkers dont check the registry. Surely this is the main place attacked?
Is there some way I can find interlopers in registry? or something else i should do . I know to get fixes from Nortons etc but need to i know what they are first.
Why cant I find virus details on ZAL have I set it incorrectly? I have been to their support site but couldnt find the right forum to search.

274408 2004-09-21 21:28:00 Trojan remover scans startup files, for commands, and the registry for known worm/trojan/some spyware signatures. BUT it isnt free.

And Xoftspy so it says, scans memory/registry/folders, and files.

BUT that's not free either.

274409 2004-09-21 21:35:00 Sorry can't help on the Zal question. If you are worried about being still infected, try stringer or A2 (a squared),search on google for these or try an online scan, I use http://www.pcpitstop.com scanner, but there are others.

Xoftspy is scamware.

274411 2004-09-21 21:57:00 Grab this evaluation of PestPatrol and run it. The evaluation version will detect and show you where the infections are, but will not clean them. Still it is handy to know where you can find the little beggars, and you can delete the listings manually. Pheonix (280)
