1353167 2013-09-10 20:21:00 Husband got a call early.
Could he come now and remove the element from the cylinder?
The electrician is there but can't get it out, electrician has drilled a hole in the element but still no joy.

As if that wasn't enough then he says he has a second hand Rheem mains pressure, perhaps husband could just put that in.

Ah.....

Then he says the other plumbing crowd is due later but he can come now.

He declined.

1353168 2013-09-10 22:33:00 Right decision sounds like a real PITA customer who probably would not want to pay anyway. CliveM (6007)
1353169 2013-09-10 23:47:00 A bit like when you go onsite for a PC repair, the person you have to deal with says
"I was previously in the IT industry 15 years, so I know if you trying to rip me off" , then comes up with all sorts of BS that only shows how out of touch he is.

This customer, despite all this "IT knowledge" , doesnt know what a COA is,doesnt know the diffence between a server & some old PC, doesnt know what system restore is, & honestly thinks that major Win corruption can just be quickly fixed onsite "reloading windows is just for lazy techs "

1353170 2013-09-11 03:06:00 Electrician who can't get an element out of a cylinder.....

Sound's like a Mechanic calling an Auto electrician because he can't get the sparkplugs out (or maybe the other way around).

Not someone I want fixing my hot water that's for sure. Still maybe by asking for help He'll actually learn something and be better.

1353171 2013-09-11 03:16:00 thinks that major Win corruption can just be quickly fixed onsite :D yep, many people dont know the magic key combination that suddenly fixes all the problems.

Love the ones that say something like "it will only take 5 minutes to fix" -------- :illogical really ?

Back on topic -- some jobs its simply a lot less stress and hassle to say NO. You know its gonna turn into "one of those" events.

Well.....I had a PC round the other day. They had taken it to another tech first.
Other tech told them it was shutting off because the BIOS was confused about the (2bnd) power supply that had been installed.

In fact it wasn't shutting off exactly...as in VGA was OK, PC was actually on, but it was blank and unresponsive...

Upon getting into Windows (which took a while, and all sorts of interesting things happened prior to that) I checked Event Viewer and saw 9 million Disk Errors. Specifically a whole lot of Disk Controller errors.

Hmmm....

Since he RAed the HDD, the PC has been perfect....

Wainuitech....husband gets that - it's a simple job! Only take a few minutes to fix! So why don't they do it themselves then....LOL.

You know we're not meant to discuss the special keys, coz MS or the CIA will wipe our own computers of all data for discussing it.

Shhhhh! It ain't meant to be common knowledge!

Well it does happen.Last time it took the plumber over an hour using gas heat to get the element out that I couldn't move! And if I ruin the tank trying to remove an element, guess who pays for a new tank?

1353176 2013-09-12 22:06:00 OK fair enough. I almost want mine to fail because I'd like one of the heatpump ones but can't justify the expense. Same with solar, great Idea but costs too much. dugimodo (138)
