1353061 2013-09-09 22:30:00 Just a heads up for those that have access to MSDN or TechNet, Microsoft have released the final versions of Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2012 R2 versions.
Downloading them all now. :D

1353062 2013-09-09 22:45:00 Is it an ISO of the complete OS, and can it upgrade an existing Windows 8 installation?

(Just hanging out for it to appear on MSDNAA :p)

1353063 2013-09-09 22:49:00 They are an ISO of the complete OS. :)
Not sure if you will be able to upgrade an existing Windows 8 install.
Probably not until they release it via the app store.
I was able to upgrade to 8.1 Preview from my Windows 8 so one would assume you'll be able to do the same with the final version from the app store.

One post on Neowin says:

MSDNAA doesn't get RTM builds ahead of time, only Previews/RC and the final version - well after it hits retail at that.

MSDNAA doesn't get RTM builds ahead of time, only Previews/RC and the final version - well after it hits retail at that. After the backlash from saying it wasn't going to be available till the 18th Oct, they changed their minds. Wasn't there yesterday when I went in,but is today.

1353067 2013-09-10 03:04:00 Yup I read that MSDN and Tech can get it. But thats what one site said about MSDNAA. Is it the same thing or different? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1353068 2013-09-10 03:09:00 As far as I'm aware, the MSDNAA program was dropped a few years back, being replaced by the slightly-differently-modelled Dreamspark - which typically does not get an RTM product until actual retail availability. inphinity (7274)

Ah yeah, looking again the university's site does have DreamSpark branding. Damn, was hoping to get it. :(
