I've been with Telstra/Vodafone ever since it was available YEARS back when it was Paradise.net. (snip)

Well, as I noted above, I too was with Telstra/Vodafone ever since it was available YEARS back when it was Paradise.net. In fact, I was with Cyberxpress before it became Paradise.net, and Planet before that. I am not a fickle customer - I have stayed with the same ISP since steam modems; that is until they sold my contract to some corporate with more money. It was only when Telstra sold out to Vodafone, and we shifted house, that things went pear-shaped. Vodafone's customer service sucks - it is incompetent, slow, disinterested in correcting their mistakes, and did I mention incompetent?

Wainui, I frankly don't care whether you are getting a privileged ride through knowing someone on the inside - it changes nothing in my situation. Neither do I care that Telecom is just as bad - I know that, because the two of them consistently rate amongst the barely also-rans on the annual Consumer customer survey for ISPs. Your views on this matter change nothing in terms of my advice (to those who care to listen) to avoid Vodafone like the plague.

1371455 2014-03-29 09:36:00 Vodafone's customer service sucks - it is incompetent, slow, disinterested in correcting their mistakes, and did I mention incompetent? Not everyone has bad experiences. Theres not one single ISP that has 100% perfect service.

I've always had good service, last one here was when the warp speed went stupid, they were called about 3 ish in the afternoon and were here the following morning just after 9am to check it out, the other time was when the TV decoder which was years old started giving problems, I had to actually refuse the arrival time originally as they want to come the following day, but I wasn't going to be here. When we changed plans, we changed a few things, got a LOT more and only cost an extra $8 / month, BUT it saves us roughly $30 -$50 a month.

Old story, if someone doesnt like the service go somewhere else - dont complain all the time, do something about it.

One really funny event happened last year with a customer & XTRA -- Nothing but the run about for over a week ( so she said) , in the end while on speaker phone, imagine a old lady, sweet as, butter wouldn't melt, always polite, in a soft voice she said to the twit at Xtra -- Look , son, I'm not normally rude, but you either fix this muck-up right now or close my f*ken account NOW :horrified I was gobsmacked - lol I couldn't believe she said that, the guy at xtra goes arrrr arrr arrrr -- her response - close my account NOW. - He did

Your views on this matter change nothing in terms of my advice (to those who care to listen) to avoid Vodafone like the plague. To repeat your self, I dont care one little bit that you dont like Vodafone. Some people seen to get bad experiences and some dont,no matter who the ISP is. No ISP is perfect. As for the contact I have,I dont contact him every time, 90% of the time I use the standard call just like everyone else. If you do happen to get someone who doesn't know what they are doing simply ask to be put onto someone else or the correct department.

Anyones advise is just that, advice, doesn't means its the same for everyone.

Just re-read the post #21, I would assume that regardless of the disconnection fee, you have now changed ISP's ?? If not then why not ? if you are so unhappy with them, and the so called extra charges, then you would bite the bullet and change, it would be cheaper in the long run.

1371459 2014-03-31 10:31:00 I've been with Telecom, since Post office days and even worked, for them, for over 25 years.
Have thought about change and have changed cellphones to Skinny, but they been pretty good.
Re email problems, I moved to Gmail, when it was just starting out and not problems with them.
Our area had fiber installed, last May, but Telecom says can't connect, but have been approached by 4 other ISP's but will stay with Telecom for now.
As someone keeps saying, on here, If it ain't broke>???
