1371036 2014-03-26 10:09:00 sounds amazing, like, really really swell.

sounds like a real breeze if you already have a domain with existing users.

i must ponder how the hub assigned to each workstation handles usb mass storage etc.

some thunderbolt displays would be nice with built in webcam and usb hubs. etc.

oh adc how we never knew ye.

Sounds like a fun project - might have to have a scrounge around for some suitable hardware (video outs being the bottleneck :)).

i highly recommend the gigbyte geforce gt 640 OC 2GB (makes a fairly decent gaming gpu if you dont mind the gamers sneering with lowend comments)

comes with 2xDVI-I, 1xVGA, 1xHDMI and all 4 can be used at the same time. for something like $150. otherwise multiple hd5450 are sufficient. though with linux ANY gpu should do the task fine so a combination of pci/pcie cards could get you going rather easily. none of the messy requirements mps2012 has for GPUs, dx11 seems to be it though.

1371037 2014-03-27 02:03:00 Just did a quick test / comparison between Windows multipoint server and the Linux userfull. ( gotta do something during scans) :p

Linux first.

Installed OK, around 30 minutes - until it got to the point of detecting hardware after the first reboot :groan: On start up popped up a message Press F1 to connect Keyboard - problem didn't detect any keyboard (did during install ) ?? Had to crash the computer, then it picked them up on reboot. Next when making accounts, message pops up not enough Memory requires at least 4GB, 1GB installed -- WTF - Its got 8 Installed, still ran OK though. Next tried to enter the licence key they provided :yuck: Invalid key, OK request new key, same thing. APART from that it worked OK.

Windows Multipoint Server 2012 --- Installed OK, ran smooth as, created users. Haven't done any updates but it looks like Windows 8, the main console to manage users and the machine are not on the start screen, but right click show all apps, pin to start -- Done. ( admin account required)

No two guesses which one ran better.

The Linux may be OK if it was tweaked by someone who knows about that sort of thing, AND they actually manage to enter in a licence key that works ;)

Maybe it was talking about swap?

1371039 2014-03-27 03:18:00 Maybe it was talking about swap? No Idea, but it did appear to run at a reasonable speed. As mentioned says its needs 4, got 1 but actually has 8.

Not really concerned I was only "playing" once I found out where they had put everything to set up different user accounts its very close to the earlier version of MPS 2011 :D
