Could that be linked to the slowdown?

Could well be!

I understand we'll be getting letters advising when the metering is being turned on again. Make hay while the sun shines - I know I am! :D

1352462 2013-09-11 02:17:00 I dunno about issues on the line. everyone does use wireless and annoyingly the main family pc uses a wireless card with an outdated wireless interface (wireless g I think) Thats probably slowing us down a bit. My dad is thinking of upgrading to ultra vdsl (he wants to watch the english premier league. Also because I keep running over our data cap. No matter what way you look at it, data caps SUCK) so if he does that will be a bloody godsend. Also one thing that did happen that is rather nice is that bizzarely our telecom online usage meter Isn't tracking data usage. Every month it just says 0mb downloaded 0mb uploaded. I have no idea why its doing that, it just is.

Is the 1.5Mbps you mention your actual DSL sync speed, then, or just the performance you get over wifi? Wifi, especially with multiple devices (and older devices) is unreliable for speed. What speeds do you get over an ethernet connection, and what is the actual sync speed of your DSL modem?

Well speed tests give a download of 5 mbps to 15 mbps. But when I actually download something i'm lucky if the speed goes over 1 mbps. It may just be the servers im downloading from. Also I would use ethenet but phone jacks in our house are randomly and stupidly placed and if I wanted to use ethenet I would have to run a cable through the kitchen to my computer on the dining room table.

Seriously, start a new thread, let us know the brand/model of modem for a start, and we can help you...
