A pitiful wage wouldn't be enough to lower myself to knowingly (and being slightly above stupid I can figure out what a scummy job is) do something so close to shitbag.

Actually it wasn't a pitiful wage Metla, they pay heaps.....but yes, I couldn't bring myself to cooperate with the ripping off of customers, regardless.

1352276 2013-08-30 00:05:00 Speaking about TV "Infomercials", I notice that unlike in the US, the commercials in NZ never explicitly stated the cost of the products only the so called "trial" cost. Thus one has to ring the phone to get the price.

This would open the possiblity that costumers be quoted different prices.

Isn't there suppose to be a law for this?

hmmn: so you want fixed prices, for everything, everywhere

that would mean you would NEVER be able to ask for a discount, there would be no discounts for unemployed or senior citizens, no more haggling at shops to get a better price, etc etc etc
you also want to be charged the same amount that some Millionaire gets charged for goods & services ?

Actually , I think there are/were regulations against price fixing (just the opposite)

1352278 2013-08-30 07:08:00 How does disclosing the full price before purchase amount to price fixing? Metla (12)

I never said anything about fixed price nor price at the shop. I only mentioned prices on tv infomercial.

If you don't know the "real" price then how can you know you get a discount?

It's part of their plan. If they quoted you the actual price you'd never ring.
The vacuum is $800.

So you ring, they ring you back, having obtained your credit card, give you the "trial", and then if you complain you can't afford it, they will first discount it by 25%, then 50% if you still protest.

See?
They still make heaps on it at 50%, but if they can get top dollar, well all the better for them....

1352281 2013-08-31 04:18:00 I note consumer or the commerce people don't seem to question the silly claims of these outfits. Cicero (40)
1352282 2013-09-13 10:18:00 This shizza was finally resolved... after multiple calls and us making a real nuisance of ourselves. We ended up having to pay the courier cost to send the Roomba - $36. But... they refunded the trial cost of 20 bucks, and they sent us pre-paid courier tickets to pick up the "free" vacuum. So not too bad a resolution. Greg (193)
