You replace the seals on that one and 2 weeks later the door will probably fall off

1352761 2013-09-05 22:33:00 I was told once by a serviceman, (a fridge serviceman, not a sailor or soldier) that if the seals remain in reasonable condition, just to put them in a bucket of very hot water (after removing them from the fridge door) and then refit them. I haven't tried it but he said it would work. Of course if the seals are split it won't. Nor will it work if the seals are of the swimming and biting type. Richard (739)

What do you think would be a fair price to pay for whirlpool /fisher and paykel fridge/freezer in decent nick?

Too general.
New? Used?
All depends on condition, size, all sorts of things.
Pay what you are prepared to pay....

1352765 2013-09-06 22:19:00 I know you were asking about price, but I would skip this one: www.trademe.co.nz For the sake of a separate vege cooler you are ending up with an undersize fridge and freezer section.

Likewise, the Whirlpool has a smaller than standard freezer box, so unless you already have another freezer this could be limiting.

Fisher & Paykel has stepped onto a marketing tightrope, rebranding a big part of its New Zealand output as "Elba" while preserving the old Fisher & Paykel brand for top-end products.

Those products - including top-of-the-line washing machines and dishwashers - make up the bulk of the overseas sales planned to be a big part of the firm's growth strategy.

Shoppers will find that while stainless steel and other top-end products retain the Fisher and Paykel badge, other products will be branded as Elba by Fisher and Paykel.

The other subtlety is that the company says some of the Elba products were actually made by other manufacturers, as has been the case when all products were marketed under the F&P brand.

And F&P hasn't been that reliable for years...even when I worked there just as they did their appliances/healthcare split, the engineers were moaning about the crap components they were being forced to use - after recommending better quality parts and being overruled.

Simpson, Westinghouse and Hoover are all part of the same parent company. Whirlpool is Australian.

I'd be inclined to go with one of those.......can't say about other brands as haven't read/heard much ablout reliabilty on those....
