275586 2004-09-25 10:58:00 Anyone able to help with getting a ICE client to request a connection password/confirmation before dialing up the internet.

Two PC home network, network working fine, ICS working fine.

From what I can find out the communication between the ICS host and client is a network-style peer-to-peer connection without Dial-Up Networking involved. Therefore, ICS does not seem to require confirmation of a password (stored in Dial-Up properties) before connecting. If the password is removed from Dial-Up properties the client will initiate a connect (modem dials) but will fail to connect to the ISP, returning a prompt for the ISP password.

I would like to replicate behavior similar to that of the ICS host, where Dial-Up prompts for password confirmation BEFORE the modem attempts to dial the ISP. Actually what I want to do is to be notified that the ICS Client is attempting to connect.

Any help or pointers gratefully received.

you might have to go some third party Product like Wingate... which is priced cheeply for 3 users... or have a look at the free 602 LAN Suite which is the same thing...
Both use Network Address Translation... the same as ICS...
but they give you scope to configure the options....

Or you can use RDU... Remote Disconection Utility (free). to control the modem on a remote computer... Just remove the password from the dial-up on the host comp... and RDU on the remote comp. will ask for the password....

275588 2004-09-25 11:32:00 If its XP as the host (main) PC thats got ICS enabled, just disable it / untick it, in the dialup not to allow network computers to dial out. Then you wont have to worry about any client PC trying to connect to the net.

Or even better dont put a dialup / icon on the client PC
