276070 2004-09-27 07:11:00 Hi hi.

I have a Dynalink v1456vqe-r2 USB 56k modem, and I downloaded the drivers from www.dynalink.co.nz

for win98, however when I try install them it says the file is not correct to the hardware device. And then doesn't install, or does install but the modem doesnt respond.

This is what windows detects the modem as

276071 2004-09-27 07:24:00 Did it come with the disk? If so use that. Then it must be the right driver. Spacemannz (808)
276072 2004-09-27 09:29:00 nah it didnt... MrBeef (342)
276073 2004-09-27 09:46:00 I would send an email to Dynalink and find out where it is (the driver) and tell them the driver online doesnt work. Spacemannz (808)
276074 2004-09-27 10:36:00 does anyone anything that actually is going to help me....There's no reason why the driver from the site isn't the proper one. MrBeef (342)
276075 2004-09-27 10:50:00 Windows 98 is dodgy with USB support at the best of times .

BUT

We don't know anything about your hardware or the modem history .

All USB chipset drivers updated on your motherboard?

Did the modem work previously?

Any chance its dead?

And I simply cannot understand the first part of your last post . . . ?

276076 2004-09-27 11:01:00 Hi again, On MY computer it previously worked under win98, a compaq deskpro EP - 500 mhz, 192 mb ram.

However now i have win2k.

The comp i was trying to get it to work on was the families. Its win98, 192 mb ram. Um amd duron 900mhz. Well using the webcam on the comp works, and the digicam, so i presume its all updated. When i plug the modem it win98 install the usb composite drivers and then detects the v90/k56 crap.

With win2k, the light doesnt come on yet it detects the v90/k56flex stuff.

276077 2004-09-27 21:54:00 Well as it says on the Dynalink site, if u r trying to get it to go on Windows 2000,Windows 2000 isnt supported with this modem. There are NO drivers, for Windows 2000, or XP, on the Dynalink site.

ONLY 98/ME. Try unplugging some USB devices (digicam) on the families PC, then see if the drivers install on it for Win98. If not, then I would still get in touch with Dynalink by email. Since they made the thing. They should know why it doesnt work. And if the modem doesnt work and its under a year old. Take it back. Get a better modem.
