| 275715 | 2004-09-27 08:35:00 | PC World Magazine. 80 gig. I have just checked it, only one partition needs defrag, this is because it is for backups and is changed frequently. What you have to ballance is the extra wear, time & hassle of defragging and leaving it alone. If the drive is compressed it does not frag. |

Which edition of PC world? which page? Do you have a eighty gig drive? or did the article refer to one. How is it partitioned? or is it all compressed and not partitioned at all? D. |

| 275720 | 2004-09-27 12:38:00 | Correct Murray ;-) An "Atomic" File-system... All write operations are either completed or not done at all! Ive not defragged my personal PC/Laptop in over a year... Then again Ive formatted a fair few times trying different distro's and breaking things. Apparently even WinFS will still need Defragging - What a hassle! |
