| 276210 | 2004-09-27 22:42:00 | Anyone here use XP SP2 Mirc, and on a network/LAN?? as a client? Just wondering if someone knows the answer to this . We have 2 PC's BOTH have modems . BOTH have XP SP2 installed . And BOTH have Norton Internet Security 2003 installed . When I log into Mirc, into any server thru this PC I'm on, its fine . I log on straight away . (The IRC server picks up my ident port (113) . BUT when I go thru the other PC, which has ICS enabled, into Mirc . It gives me an n on login (which means no auth, (so I've been told), the server I'm going onto, doesn't pick up my ident port (113) . XP SP2's firewall on BOTH PC's is OFF . I even added the ports required for ident, and DCC into XP's firewall, even tho it's off just in case . That didn't work . BUT this n on login still appears on my screen, if and when I go thru the PC with ICS enabled . Mirc has been added to Nortons both . So, what else could it be?? I've changed BOTH firewalls in XP to not monitored . Coz I use Nortons . Why would it work when I log on from here (this PC), but not thru the other PC?? Everything else works fine (file sharing/ net access from this PC thru the other PC) . Any info appreciated . ta |
