276309 2004-09-28 21:50:00 Some motherboards do this. Like this one. (Asus P4P800).

As you say it makes the ding ding sound. Even tho there's nothing wrong with it. The earlier version/s of this BIOS, used to make a sound with every USB device that was plugged in on startup. People couldnt tell whether it was a prob with their system or not! So, if you had 5 USB devices plugged in, it would ding 5 times!

So, in a later BIOS update, ASUS changed it so it didnt do this with every single USB device that was plugged into a USB port, when you booted up the system. BUT it still does it during and while you're using Windows (well XP) since thats what I'm using atm.

Which suggests your mouse is losing it's connection and reconnecting.

Mirddes, try plugging your mouse in via a ps2 adapter.

276311 2004-09-29 00:32:00 I dont think so. The mouse isnt the only thing thats USB on this system.

There is also a scanner, digital cam, and internal USB 2 card reader that is also USB, which is also plugged in.

The only thing with some USB mouse/mice, is if u plug it into PS/2, the stupid light stays off, even if u turn the system off. With USB it goes off.

That SHOULD be the light stays on...

276313 2004-09-29 00:56:00 What light are you talking about, off is off isn't it? I plug my optical USB mouse via ps2 as recommended by the instructions (for win2k). There are no issues at all.
