277041 2004-09-30 02:43:00 Can someone point me to an idiots guide to useing wine,

I've had a quick look at franks corner and winehq

basically what i want is a sort of step by step guide to installing something, just because i can't quite make the installation process (from what i have read ) gell in my head.

thanks Nigel

speaking of wine
Gotta go and bottle beer
thanks

277042 2004-09-30 02:46:00 Damn i didn't change the subject line

I installed Wine using "yum" and then couldn't find the directories created, decided to post for help then realised show hidden files wasn't turned on,

always happens when I go to post, I realis the answer has been staring me in the face.

277043 2004-09-30 03:17:00 Try:
cd ~/.wine

To run an app, its as easy as:
wine setup.exe

Basically you'll get a virtual C-Drive in ~/.wine so everything that you install will be in there :-)

Chill.

BTW - In Linux, if its prefixed with a period, its hidden. Try:
ls -la

277044 2004-09-30 03:54:00 do i need to copy the whole installation file across, ie from cd

The area that confuses me majorly is the configuration file, are there seperate config files for each programme or will i need to alter the config file everytime I open a different programme

thanks Nigel
