276803 2004-09-30 05:47:00 Might have to try this as i am sick of using IE here at work and they won't let me install FF on the system :-) Odin (227)
276804 2004-09-30 05:52:00 Do you know if this works for Linux, I'd love to be able to keep my files on my Thumbdrive for all the Knoppix boots etc I do B-) Chilling_Silence (9)

No, it doesn't - just tried.
[jennifer@myth firefox]$ wine PortableFirefox.exe
err:dosmem:setup_dos_mem Cannot use first megabyte for DOS address space, please report

[jennifer@myth firefox]$You get an error message about "Unable to locate profile specified. Are you sure that the INI file correctly lists the profile you wish to use? Y/N". I had a go at hacking the PortableFirefox.ini to point it at the /profile directory (changed it to Linux style of paths), but it was a no goer.

Think having to use Wine to launch it adds to the confusion :)

276806 2004-09-30 07:29:00 I would want it native, not under WINE :p Chilling_Silence (9)

Yeah, I know you would :p

But good luck getting a Windows executable to run natively under Linux :D

You could look at how they manage to do it under Windows and figure out how to get it to work under nix.
