277110 2004-09-30 22:29:00 OK, I'm a member. :p :D

Right, this will make you happy - I can't see the images apart from the squid either. The reason for that is because it looks like the images are on a private photo hosting site that you probably need a password to access.

I am wondering how you know that other people can view the images? At a guess I would say that they have a password given them by the owner of the photo.

277111 2004-09-30 22:59:00 It must be a setting on your computer i can see three images on that page the squid the next one below is a lure and the other one further down the page is a lure with a marking pen.
is this correct.??

277112 2004-09-30 23:11:00 Wakey wakey indeed, 8:50am is very very early, and I had not finished my first coffee yet.
I signed up and can see all three images on that site.
first (oceanexplorer.noaa.gov)
second (img.photobucket.com)
third (img.photobucket.com)

It would seem that you guys are having prob's getting images from img.photobucket.com.

277113 2004-09-30 23:16:00 Right . . . then it is obviously a setting on Fishb8 and my computer that is preventing the images showing . Have tried three browsers with the same results .

It can't be the Hosts file as I have disabled that .

I don't have Java on my PC at the moment - do you two?

277114 2004-09-30 23:17:00 Yes java here Rob99 (151)
277115 2004-09-30 23:26:00 Ha, I have got them now! :D

It was Outpost blocking them for me. I disabled all of the options under the Plug-ins tab and got the images displaying after that. Not sure which one is doing the actual blocking but never mind, at least I know where to look.

Fishb8, check out your firewall, ad-blocker and other utilities until you find the culprit. It will be one of those, most likely the one you have forgotten all about. :D

277116 2004-10-01 08:33:00 Hi - You guys are so helpful. I use Outpost as my firewall and it makes sense, that if all 3 browsers won't let me see the image, then there's a common problem. However, I've disabled all the plug-ins and no change. Disabled Outpost and still can't see the images. As you said, there must be a setting on my PC that is doing the blocking.
Will work on it. Thanks.

277117 2004-10-01 08:49:00 When you disabled the plugins/shut down Outpost, did you do a hard refresh of the page? Hold down CTRL then press F5.

Watching the traffic in Outpost I think it is the DNS cache setting as I stopped that service, did a hard refresh and got the images.

277118 2004-10-01 09:04:00 Yes, it is definitely the DNS cache plugin setting that was blocking the images for me .

I have no idea what it does or what it is for but a search on Google brings up quite a few pages of info to study . If a hard refresh doesn't do the trick for you you may need to look at other apps and settings . Hopefully someone else will have some suggestions to try .

I am pleased you brought this topic up as I have had similar isolated problems but did not realise it was Outpost blocking the pages so you have done me a favour today . :-)

Tight lines . ;-)

277119 2004-10-01 09:06:00 Hi Susan - All the plug-ins are disabled and I've just done a re-boot. Voila, I can see the images. I'll re-install the plug-ins, sequentially, leaving the DNS cache (whatever that is) until last.
Wonderful.
