276827 2004-10-01 00:14:00 Thanks everyone,

Prescott - I will be staying with Vodafone as I have no reason to switch, plus I like the flexibility of the SIM card as opposed to the programmed phone.

Godfather - I agree Re: Nokia useability, but have not had a chance to try many others as I am in a rural area, and so am relying on internet as my testing station (Local mobile store is crap). I too had a bag phone - Motorola. Came with a 3W car antennae for use in rural areas, but coverage was still basic. Excellent for building sites with really loud ring. Wish I still had it so I could mount it permanently in my car's centre console - very sheik!

JM - will look into the S/E 700i

WTF - don't really want a flip phone, but thanks anyway.

fairway - will have a look at the T630, but don't know if I like its styling.

I have also added the Siemens S65 to my list of possibles and moving away from the Nokia 7200.

Insurance co. came through with approved claim this morning - budget could now be slightly higher if the right handset came available, but a little left over for accessories would also be nice.

Any more input would be great especially if anyone has found any problems with one of the models metioned.

Cheers

276828 2004-10-01 05:45:00 Yeah I agree to Nokia. I had 3 nokia's all been good. All had long batt and clean design and user friendly.

I started off with a Ericsson telecom at 1997 hated it ... they had the callback service for the voice mail as it did not support text back then .. the LCD was one level ... sorta thing..

I now have a Motorola the screen is good, a model V525 but thinking of selling we have a spare 3000 series the b/w ones with no cam. I could use that for the meantime until some Nokia becomes less on trademe. The reason I find this not good is the batt is not as long and the user friendliness is new that you have that I find it harder to text fast and hard to change format ie.. numbers, captitals, little caps etc.. or to go to special characters... The flip design I have slipped my hands and its fell on the carpet (fortunately). The nagging thing is it supports pop mail from vodafone only when on GRPS and not just for downloading in the email inbox! You can use smtp to send it thou. Which does not work with my ISP email account, I don't use my vodafone email account.

276830 2004-10-03 21:03:00 Im using a nokia 6230 at the moment and i really don't reccommend buying it because it has problems yingxuan (3330)
276831 2004-10-03 21:04:00 I actually am selling nokia 6230 at the moment with one year warranty.

The gprs often freezes .I use msn messenger with my mobile.

The connection sometimes just doesn't restart itself.Normally at the top left hand corner the letter G indicates the connection has been establishing. The built in email client can retrieve emails about 5 times then the G does not appear on the screen and the only way to fix this is to turn off and on the phone

276832 2004-10-03 21:05:00 I actually want a sony ericsson s700i .Its a bit too much at the moment .At about $5660HK retail price genuine 1 year ericsson warranty yingxuan (3330)
276833 2004-10-03 21:08:00 Oh yeah you might find that if you save the ringtone in the memory sd card and set it as a ringtone. You may find it it won't play. This can be fix with a software upgrade yingxuan (3330)
